An endoscopy camera is an essential tool while performing rigid or flexible endoscopy. We have gathered 6 tips to buy an endoscopy camera which will provide you the best image.
Always prefer a digital camera with HDMI, DVI or 3.0 USB outputs – all have significant advantages regarding quality of image, ability to connect to multiple screens and ability to connect to documentation software and computers.
Always use a flexible endoscopy filter (ANTI MOIRE). The filter allows you to receive a fine and clear image when working with a flexible endoscope. Not all cameras have this filter – so please check in advance, as there is no possibility of adding this filter later.
Always make sure you have a digital or manual zoom, as they enable you to enlarge the image on the screen when using a rigid scope (no need to operate the zoom in flexible endoscopy as it will reduce the image resolution)
You need to make sure you have the right coupler length for your type of flexible scope: 22mm for adult scope, and 25mm for pediatric.
HD camera is great but you should know that you will recognize its advantages only with rigid endoscopy, and as long as the scope, the coupler, and the screen are fully supporting HD. Of course, you can still use the HD Camera with regular rigid scope or any fiber scope –but you will not get an HD image. In this case you will have the benefit of the digital camera outputs (see tip 1 above).
With the documentation software you take a full advantage of the camera capabilities, as it allows you to show the examination results to the patient, to record images from video, to compare separate assessments, to produce reports and more.
